National Museum Conditions Assessment and 3D Scan
Washington, D.C.
Project Details
In 2015, leadership at the National Museum for Women in the Arts launched an extensive building renovation project for their historic museum. As a subconsultant to project civil engineering lead RK&K, Rice staff provided a site conditions assessment and 3D scan of the property. Project Managers at RA managed a multi-story exterior façade static scan, a complete interior static scan (basement, roof, and all 6-main floors), and limited feature extractions for comparisons.
This off-peak hours project required GNSS and conventional surveying for ground level primary control, in addition to daily field data review and registration from licensed surveyors at Rice. Our photogrammetrists then fused that LiDAR-scanned data to create highly detailed, 3D digital model of the entire museum property.
