SURVEY INSTRUMENT OPERATOR
We are seeking a Survey Instrument Operator for our Manassas office. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and a self-reliant individual who has a genuine interest in land surveying.
Role and Responsibility
Assists the Crew Chief with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
Assists in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, right-of way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys.
Responsible for daily uploading and downloading of data collectors, daily care and charging of instrumentation.
Assists in gathering all necessary information needed to properly perform the survey in the most time-efficient manner.
Assists in making calculations and maintaining records essential to survey.
Assists Crew Chief with the effective maintenance and operation of vehicles, equipment, tools and supplies.
Assists in accurately and efficiently collecting field data and completing the necessary paperwork in accordance with company guidelines.
Maintains certifications (including traffic control) related to his/her role.
Follows policies and procedures to ensure all work is done accurately and efficiently.
Attends meetings in and out of the office, including Safety Meetings.
Maintains regular, predictable, and punctual attendance to ensure on-time crew departure to job sites.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Current OSHA safety and confined space training preferred, but not required.
2+ years of experience as a survey instrument operator.
Experience with survey equipment (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors) and data collection software.
Frequent travel with multiple overnight stays.
Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Good collaboration and communication skills.
Good computer and data collector skills.
Good mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed.
