York County, VA 

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) requested a corridor survey for an interstate widening project in York and James City County, Virginia. The improvements were proposed along an existing eight (8) mile stretch of Interstate 64, which serves as the primary transportation artery connecting the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with the rest of the state.  The project corridor included all interchanges and secondary roads parallel and in close proximity to the interstate.

Project Highlights:

  • Accelerated project schedule delivered on time and within budget
  • Coordinated all field activities through VDOT’s LCAM & 511 traffic management systems, which identifies all potential work zone conflicts, and through daily correspondence with VDOT’s Traffic Operations Center.  Nighttime static and mobile lane closures were implemented for data collection efforts to minimize impacts to the traveling public and promote safe operations
