Rice Associates, Inc. provides airborne LiDAR acquisition and processing services. This technology uses a high-resolution laser, mounted in a helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft to scan ground features. The resulting “point cloud” consists of numerous xyz points that are both horizontally and vertically accurate and can be used to generate topographic datasets.
The data collected from the LiDAR sensor can be used to generate a Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) which is then used to develop; DTM datasets, topographic maps, and (bare earth) models. This technology offers one of the most accurate and cost-effective ways to capture elevation information.
