PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
PROJECT EXPERIENCE:
Leesburg Pike, Photogrammetric Location Survey Location: FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA Project Background: Rice Associates has been involved with a number of Leesburg Pike projects ranging from major roadway upgrades to significant pedestrian enhancements. When survey support was required for planned pedestrian enhancements along the Leesburg Pike from Arlington Boulevard to South Fourteenth Street, Fairfax County enlisted the support of Rice Associates. Work Performed: Rice Associates provided a complete low level photogrammetric location survey through the entire corridor. Controls were established based on the North American Datum (NAD) 83 and National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) 29 by means of Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS).The project was flown with low altitude black and white photography which produces better contrast in "leaves on" conditions which is evidenced by less obscurity in the images. Color images at a higher altitude were also obtained to produce a digital ortho photo. The aerial survey was thoroughly checked by means of ground based supplements in the detailed survey areas and spot shots were taken at random verification points. The surveys of the detailed areas included one foot contours, property and right-of-way data, and complete drainage evaluations. |
